No Hope

Pros

Velocity is now fully remote.

Cons

Big Picture: The compensation package here is really bad. There is little opportunity to grow or learn. The company is far too focused on metrics. These new performance indicators have little relation to the actual work being done. Some of them even disincentivize pushing yourself and working harder. Worse yet, good metrics and positive performance reviews have no relation to your actual compensation/raise. The CEO has created a toxic work culture. When faced with challenging questions during town hall meetings, the CEO often responds by saying that you do not belong here and suggesting to work for the competition. This mentality is present throughout the upper management of the company. It is especially frustrating when you take into account the company's poor pay, lack of opportunity, and lack of direction. Day-to-day: The work isn't interesting or rewarding. The products lack direction. The scrum teams are heavily micromanaged. Teams have no agency over scrum ceremonies. Communication between teams is horrendous. Upper management is not interested in addressing the problems the rank and file face. It has been like this for quite a while with no end in sight. As a developer here, you feel trapped and have no hope of anything improving. It is a truly depressing place to work.

From good to bad

Pros

Recent work from home policy

Cons

Everything else is bad. Compensation is below market, management is blaming everyone but themselves, bonuses have been cancelled for everyone. Almost all the new management team came from the same company that went down and now they're sinking this one. Pledge of Commitment - everyone has to raise hand and say your pledge... otherwise what, firing squad? Employees who's been there for years are now fleeing the company

A cautionary tale of when leadership doesn't listen

Pros

The people you work with are some of the best people to have on your team and the full time work from home policy. 2 star only because the actual employees are great.

Cons

I used to think that this was one of the best work environments to be a part of until a few years ago. Since the new org structure and new leadership it has been a downhill slide and I don't even know where to begin: the incessant war analogies? The feedback that goes nowhere with zero follow through or even blatant ignoring? The dangling of carrots of empty promises? The micro-management of leadership that induces a fear culture? The fact that in spite of employees meeting impossible deadlines and unrealistic expectations they are underpaid even by industry standards? There is no incentive to employees to learn or work hard with the removal of the bonus structure and the company can't even keep up with cost of living raises. Senior employees are sorely overworked and burnt out yet there is no plan in place to relieve them. Favoritism is rampant here.
