Pros

Coworkers in sales and other areas are really friendly.

Cons

The leadership in Finance and Pricing is new and hasn't taken the time to learn how things are done and are making changes that they don't understand the impacts of. It takes more effort for our sellers to sell internally than externally and we end up getting in our own way of making sales. The company ownership prioritizes short term EBITDA returns and as a result has made a number of decisions that have caused long-term damage to this company. The company rarely promotes from within. A select few are able to advance but most people looking to grow their career leave. Most of the young people with ideas have quit within the last 2-3 years. The Glassdoor review asks to rate the current CEO Cali Tran but he was fired approximately 3 weeks ago.

Pros

New ELT focused on taking the company in the right strategic direction

Cons

4 CEOs in less than five years, very political (if you're from the Digital side you're fine, otherwise watch your back), outdated systems and processes in some parts of the business, say they care about the employees, but not walking the talk.

2 Valassis companies calling on same clients

Pros

Very well intentioned people at Livonia, MI HQ

Cons

Valassis acquires companies with existing sales people in place, failing to integrate teams and conduct necessary layoffs at time of acquisition. Instead they crowd the field with sales people who are competing against each other for the same clients' business, eventually getting rid of legacy Valassis reps. Valassis and Valassis Digital are NOT one company. The latter, pre acquisition was Maxpoint and should still be called Maxpoint. They are 2 separate and distinct entities with separate budgets and separate CRMs. My experience was hell on earth with Valassis hiring for an opportunity that didn't exist. I was fortunate enough to recognize the absurdity and brokered an exit plan for myself which Valassis very kindly accepted. There is no doubt that their acquiescence was a consolation for their completely reckless representation of market opportunity.
