A bad experience is still an experience

Pros

1) Nice laptop and desktop 2) Good salary with experience 3) Comfy desk and chair 4) 5 days work week

Cons

1) HR is very important. But the HR here just sits in the room.U can also see with ur own eyes there is rarely any mingling between different races and nationalities. The only time HR comes to look for you is when you fail to submit your Medical Cert. There is no integration.HR doesnt care if staff doesnt come to work on time. You can see a half empty office at 8am.It is very unfair to the rest who puts in effort to maintain discipline.Since it is an open office with tons of people, HR doesnt even care if some staff shouts over the phone constantly many times a day every single day causing disturbance or just chit chatting loudly while others are trying to concentate on work.HR doesnt get any feedback from anyone on how things are going or if there is anything they can do to improve. The welfare and discipline of staffs are totally ignored thus allowing some to run wild like ones own house without any consideration for others.Complants have been made but there is still no change. 2)Your bosses are normally overseas.Except for a few departments.Do not expect to be taught when you come but instead expect to dig out your survival instincts. If your boss is not here expect to be bullied too.You are at the mercy of the others unless you are a fighter. The rule here is whoever argues the loudest wins.Bosses do not care about your development either thus work can get dull and mundane after a while.More like a retirement home here as workers here typically range from late 30's to 50 with the exception of a few 30 year olds.Dont expect instant replies on emails and expect a lot of silly questions to be thrown around. 3) Politics here are pretty high.Though you can choose to turn a blind eye on it or tackle it somehow. Or you can leave the politics to higher management. Its better to pretend you're a bit ignorant to save yourself and wait for your boss to come to the rescue. 4) NO benefits.Do not get over excited. You only get an additional 1 month wage supplement at the end of the year but thats all.Consider yourself lucky to get paid on time monthly I guess. No annual dinner or events to build stronger bonds between all departments. 5) NO staff appreciation. When promotions occur, there is no announcement.Suddenly out of the blue, they have shifted to a room or had their ranks changed or you hear it from gossips. These people who are promoted deserve an acknowledgement for their effort and hard work. 6) Staffs are getting complacent and big headed due to lack of discipline and presence of bosses.Even with a few directors here, staffs still talk loudly and shouts in the office and comes in late. Some staffs take 2 hour lunches and some can be spotted in pantry at 9 am just starting to gobble some breakfast. 7) TOP HEAVY.Too many managers around.Almost everyone sitting ahead of me are managers but they do not have anyone reporting under them.Is there really such a need ?Titles are not everything, constant performance is. 8) There is always emails on this or that website on how to feedback but its never about employee welfare or grievances. Its always about how to make more profit. 9) Scrape the FTO.We are not in the States. We dont need it We shouldnt follow it.8 days gone with the wind every year.If you choose to go on a holiday forget about any emergency leave.

Interesting and challenging job, but...

Pros

Can be fun and interesting if you were being assigned for certain interesting project. Working in R&D, you get to learn how a payment terminal is designed and developed, and the secret art of security protection. Flexible working hours when you do not need to rush to finish project. Basic Insurance and medical benefits coverage over spouse and kids.

Cons

Poor HR management. No cohesion in the Company. No annual dinner/retreat. HR only looks for you for your medicate certificate when you failed to submit it for medical leave. Low increments. No bonus (only 1mth Annual Wage Supplement). High turnover. Short project timeline causing time pressure and stressful working culture. Marketing people thought they really know the market requirements, which they always fail to convince Design team as they change their mind every alternate day. Engineers always get pressurized to make changes to fulfill what the upper management want in limited time frame as they always think every minor change is so easy to be done and can be done like flicking fingers. Working overtime is unavoidable. Be prepared to work from 8am to 2am next day or even come back to work during holiday, weekend, or middle of the night just for the sake of finish the project within the expected schedule. Double standard within the same organisation. Travel in low cost airline for some staff while others enjoy taking normal airline. For the sake of saving costs for Company, you need to spend your time to search for the low cost air-ticket for your business trip. They think we like to travel so much which sometimes we may even need to sacrifice our weekend without any compensation at all.

helpdesk- customer satisfaction is secondary

Pros

Decent pay, co-workers are nice

Cons

Old equipment, computers, chairs all need replacements. We're treated like kindergartners, can't go to break, even a bathroom break without permission or a tag at our desk. We have 1 single break tag for a staff of upwards of 30 people. Any sembelance of a helpdesk meeting where the employees have a forum for input hasn't happened in over 3 years. Extremely complex troubleshooting that increases on a constant basis with software that never works properly, we always are putting in patches to fix the software, or "sniffers" to help the engineeers find the problems that shouldn't have been out in the field to begin with. A knowledge base that is not updated properly or routinely by anyone who knows what they're doing, no time for the employees to update it, as we're always expected to be on calls. Customer satisfaction is no longer the main priority, its meeting all of the statistical numbers. On every call we're expected to fill out case types one two and three, priority code, severity code, follow up code, 5 different case notes fields in 8 different formats (PAPAVACS), ticket number, title in proper format, close the case, put closing case types one and two, fill out a closing statement, then finally close the case. Oh, and we now get 45 entire seconds to complete all of these tasks after our calls, in addition to a new phone system which ALSO requires us to fill out 3 fields each call. Call quality and resolution has taken a backseat to "looking good for the numbers". Our database of site information is completely and totally inaccurate, but no one is assigned to review and ensure the information is correct. Our new phone system is based upon this inaccurate database as well, ensuring many customers reach the wrong helpdesk each time. There is another supplemental desk that has basically destroyed any sense of usefulness for the rest of the company. They're clueless, mess things up all the time and then transfer the calls so we have to clean up after them. Management completely gave up on training them.
