Pros

There is a work/life balance. I never feel pressured to work long hours. It's a great place to work if you want a balance between work and life outside of work. You can do your job, then go home. Managers understand we have lives outside of work.

Cons

It's not a very exciting place to work. It feels like just a job sometimes, especially when there's very little local, let alone global team-building efforts relative to my previous employers. It feels like we're on our own islands. Not much visibility into what's happening in the other departments and country offices. Groups don't socialize across departments.

On the cutting edge of technology and great people to work with.

Cons

Long hours, low cap on how much PTO you can carry so the hardworking folks simply loose PTO. In past employment employees had to maintain a min balance of 40 hours for emergencies and were allowed to cash in any hours accured beyoned 40. This would be nice here at VRSN as well seeing how there are so many folks who just loose their PTO to the benfiet of the company.

Pros

VeriSign is very generous in terms of compensation. The company has a great stock program. Related, the consistent fluctuation in stock price affords the opportunity for an employee to make a pretty substantial return on his or her money. In terms of cash compensation, VeriSign can be very lucrative for an aggressive new-hire. Be advised though, your only opportunity for recieving much of a merit increast is for the most part limited to the time of hire. Bonuses may apprear good on paper, but bonuses are not in any way related to performance and seem to be more at the whim of the company. An employees actual bonus is usually 1/3 - 1/2 of their projected bouns.

Cons

If you ever count on things like a raise, promotion, or recognition...you're better off looking elsewhere.
