Great benefits while they last

Pros

VeriSign has a great benefits package, not only covering all of the basics, such as healthcare, 401-k, etc, but providing superior versions of these options and adding in tuition reimbursement, exceptional ESPP program, and others.

Cons

There is low morale as the future of the company is uncertain and little attempt is being made to proactively communicate to employees. Several managers are ill-equipped to be leaders and lack some of the fundamental managerial training necessary to encourage employee growth and empowerment.

Laid back environment makes work enjoyable but lack of clear software processes hurts company's potential

Pros

VeriSign is a very laid back place to work. Management lets most people work from home when they want to. Management is very eager to help you find a product or area where you want to work so it is fairly easy to move around and talk with managers about what you want to do.

Cons

The company is not very stable as there have been downsizing. I wouldn't recommend getting a job at VeriSign in its current state. Although management is laid back, it makes it hard to get things done. Most groups do not have enough employees so delayed projects are common. Priorities seem to change all the time and the company is constantly in "fire fighting" mode due to bad deployments or other mistakes.
