Horrible experience

Pros

Some good, kind hearted people. There are very few but still some.

Cons

So much wrong to type but I'll start with the culture. There IS no culture. It's like stepping back into 1990s. Corporate office is super stuffy. You are expected to wear suit and tie everyday and looked down upon if you are not dressed this way. There are maybe a handful of millennials....not sure who's going to drive the bus in the next 10 years after the current work force retires. Restructure, restructure, restructure with the same outcome. How many town halls must one attend to hear how bad the company is doing??? Constant turnover and layoffs. Stale office decor in most sites. You're already depressed about the state of the company then you have to work in an environment that overwhelms you with green and brown...all they need to do is add a sound system and play elevator music. Overworked, underappreciated sums up this place.

Thank you for expressing your opinion. We have a dedicated team working to optimize our business and help shape success for our customers, suppliers, and employees. We remain committed to our six core Veritiv Values that are at the cornerstone of our company and culture. Included in this culture is the ‘dress for success’ philosophy. It means something different in each of our locations, and depends on the role. A suit and tie is not mandated at any Veritiv location. We regret that you had a less than optimal experience.

Pros

Great people to work with, ability to do cross-functional work, good connections with many vendors, new challenges every day. Excitement level as we were staring a brand new Fortune 500 company, new brands, new policies, and new procedures from scratch.

Cons

Entrenched in dying industries, ineffective senior leadership (especially the CEO), decision making only made at top levels of company, desire to maintain status quo, unwillingness by upper management to listen to the Voice of both the Customer and Employees, terrible corporate culture (unusually formal and top-heavy) and work-life balance. Corporate Headquarters was completely disconnected from the rest of the company in the field, especially the Senior Leadership Team.
