Pros
The people are the only asset and not all of them, just a certain few. Most of the good ones have already left. Those that remain are waiting on severance packages.
Cons
I worked at Veritiv over 7 years. In that time I seen the company change immensely and not for the better. Veritiv really needs to step back and re-evaluate. They are permanently laying off the experienced employees for new hires who make a lot less money and have zero experience. There should be a nice balance of experienced and new employees but that isn’t the case. It shows in the frustration of the customers and employees alike. They are taking apart departments within the individual locations and laying off people leaving the rest to fend for themselves and give the same kind of service with 1/2 the people. Stressing out those who are left behind and making for a horrible work day experience. Take heed and listen for once. I have moved on to work with one of Veritiv’s customers. I hear the upper management say I never thought that Veritiv would go downhill as quickly as it has and I have no interest in doing business with a company who treats their employees like disposable plates, just uses them and tosses them aside for a newer, less expensive brand. They instead are doing business with your competitor who have more options available and a knowledgeable workforce. The sales rep from Veritiv visits and I just want to tell him not to bother. You are wasting your time. Veritiv has made really bad business decisions and those who actually do the work day to day are the ones paying for their mistakes. So keep doing what your doing. Your customers are walking away in droves because of your poor business decisions. I feel bad for those who are under the direction of such a poorly managed company because they too will be out of a job soon.
