Pros

Compensation is excellent - commission structure is complex and challenging, but if you focus on where you make the most money (which coincides with making the company money) you can make between 50,000-80,000 a year since it's not capped. Benefits are fantastic - incredibly inexpensive health insurance for individuals and families, and when I was there they matched up to 6% of every paycheck for 401k, which adds up fast; paid vacation and sick days -- and there is no probationary period The majority of the managers I had were excellent - they let you be accountable for your own success and generally don't nag when you're not meeting your quotas

Cons

Hours are swing shifts, between 6-3, 7-4, 8-5, 9-6, 10-7, 11-8, 12-9... it can be frustrating to attempt having a life outside of work because of the variety of shifts you have each week. Coworkers tend to get frustrated when they are not meeting numbers and oftentimes end up blaming another rep's success on 'cherry-picking' customers or making excuses for the quality of customer that comes in the door - you have to be prepared to deal with a lot of moodiness between managers and sales reps and sales reps vs. sales reps.

Pros

Benefits are still pretty good

Cons

Management is very confused, they have to find new talent all of the time because of so many people leaving. No one cares - everyone is just working until they can take their pension and leave.

Pros

There are great employee benefits like fairly low cost health, dental, vision plans. They also have a generous 401k match. A lot of IT people telecommute some or all of the time (Northern Virginia). They offer many vacation days, personal days, holidays, and sick days. There is a good performance bonus offered each year but hard to reach the maximum bonus. There is a robust employee intranet for access to everything you could want dealing with employee resources such as benefits, policies, work groups, etc. They have a generous severance package.

Cons

There are contestant layoffs which creates extremely low employee morale. The pension for the most of the remaining management employees has been dissolved. There are no or few promotions for the current employees. The company has been outsourcing to India or other low cost areas of the world for years which means fewer employees in the USA to do the remaining work and therefore less work is directed towards those resources. Diversity has gone too far because Verizon hired too many Indian employees and they can't speak English very clearly which makes it impossible to communicate effectively. There is no viable career path or no future. Verizon suffers from trying to merge some many telecoms under one umbrella organization. There are so many different systems that have to communicate with one other that it can be rather complex, infective and inefficient.
