No job security (here today, gone tomorrow), greedy company & greedy CEO, weak CWA union, company plays the numbers game and are unrealistic about it. Company cares about new installs over repairs and out of service customers. Verizon Communications wants contractors in the worst way and will cut the throats of employees to get them. Verizon only cares about the wireless side of the infrastructure, but it's the communications side that built and service the network and towers. Your the face of Verizon, so be prepared with apologies and excuses for a poorly managed company. retention is your goal. No one is accountable so you will have to be. They promise customers anything just to get the sale. As a technician you will have to correct their inaccuracy often, correct orders and still retain the customer. After spending an hour convincing the customer to stay, you must then spend hours to correct the order, then complete the install which takes approx 3 hours or so. Plan to work overtime, forced overtime and little to no work/life balance. CWA union negotiates the union contract, however the company is not interested in negotiating, they only want to take back. So you would be currently working without a contract (under a poor previously negotiated contract). You'll work outside in all weather conditions, but I didn't mind it much. So much more I could say..but the pay and benefits are the ONLY up side to this job.
