From the inside, looking out ...
Pros
1. Good benefits. 2. A little above average pay structure for managers. 3. Tuition reimbursement, but with a cap that makes the time for program completion difficult.
Cons
No direction from your supervisor. Everyone is afraid to make a decision so you spend endless hours on conference calls and in meetings just spinning your wheels. The employee review and appraisal system is a joke. In order to protect HR from lawsuits everyone is lumped into a general set of objectives. The keeps the possibilities for advancement or promotions to small amount. You still have the "good old boys club" mentality as a standard for daily operations. The small number of managers that speak up are often demonized and made to suffer consequences for doing so.
