Pros

I will try to be objective in both my pros & cons in this review. I find many of the Verkada reviews on this page to be overly negative, however I am more empathetic of the sales team reviews as the territory issue is a real problem that affects their experience/compensation at Verkada. Thankfully this did not affect my division (Marketing). Overall I really enjoyed my time at Verkada. Specific to the marketing org, the main pros I experienced were: 1. Great team - I have never enjoyed working with such smart, diversified and creative people in my career. It felt easy and fun to go to work every day, and I would genuinely look forward to going to work in the mornings which is a rare thing. 2. I felt very empowered by my boss (director of demand gen) to do the best job I could, there was little micro management, and I was naturally driven by him to work hard towards hitting the goals. I was able to work on all sorts of things beyond the scope of my day-to-day job, which kept me very engaged and motivated (more specific to my team probably). 3. Great cross-team collaboration - There was a natural connection to work with other teams daily, and I got exposed to many different things I would not have otherwise. Most other teams in the marketing org were world class, and its rare to have so much top talent in once place. Particularly the MDR team, creative team and the marketing operations team (engineering side). There is a lot more I could say, but the above 3 stick out the most to me.

Cons

The main cons I found can be split into 2 categories (again specific to marketing): 1. Data team: - If you work in any of the growth / demand gen roles, you will have significant exposure to data science team . The team itself has some great IC's on it, however, the leadership approach adopted by the team's director has room for improvement, particularly in terms of interpersonal communication and management practices. There have been instances where the tone and manner of feedback could be perceived as less constructive, potentially impacting team morale and productivity. -Additionally the output is of the leader, which guides your goals & day-to-day work, is often on the weaker side. For example, the attribution system—a critical component for the company's pipeline generation—managed by him is quite poor theoretically and broken in practical implementation. 2. Marketing HR Practices: - The HR practices within the Marketing division have encountered certain inconsistencies, especially concerning the prioritisation and handling of professional conduct. - Situations involving individuals regularly drinking or smoking at their work desks received minimal intervention, whereas other instances of everyday work disagreements between colleagues led to formal reprimands. - There are also communication issues with the marketing HR. For example, one common complaint is that regularly schedule meetings with individuals and don't show up to them. I personally had this occur 3 times.
