Pros

Great Science and R&D: many great colleagues

Cons

Top heavy Sr management who are totally clueless to provide support and provide resources to individual contributors; very disorganized, managers will bully you if you provide feedback that they don't like, no worklife balance

Pros

Time off on paper looks great, even though they guilt you into not taking it.

Cons

Horrible management at the 100 Technology Square location, which is half at the new Seaport location. When you are hired they often do not have clear outlines for what they actually want you to do, or it changes constantly. I came into work multiple times thinking I was doing one thing and then someone else would ask me about a task THEY knew I was supposed to do but I was never informed of. I was hired for a specific task/job, but the management never trusted me to do it on my own even though I had plenty of previous experience. They put all the "important" work on the same 4 people that worked there for years, overloading them--while simultaneously expanding their team and making new members do random unrelated grunt work. It was not intellectually stimulating or challenging work, even if I was busy the entire time. After 6 months I figured out I was not growing as a scientist and my mental health was taking a major hit from the poor environment. I left before 1 year and have no regrets. Best decision I could have made for my career was quitting this company.

We’ll share your feedback with Human Resources. Creating an environment where colleagues have clear expectations, manageable workloads, work-life integration, and, importantly, where everyone's voice can be heard are top priorities that we continuously work on.

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits, great location and on-site cafeteria. Exceptionally bright and motivated colleagues at the individual contributor level.

Cons

There’s always a huge emphasis on delivering and acting with a sense of urgency while also spending ample time to focus on individual career development. Unfortunately, it’s virtually impossible to do all of these things with the shrinking timelines year-by-year. The feeling of burnout is pervasive across the research organization; people are leaving and it’s reflective of how this is a universal issue. Employees are encouraged to speak up to provide input, but it feels like decisions are already made without regard for any input. Repeating this over and over discourages people from speaking up and leads to the same handful of people dominating meetings. The corporate and organizational goal of DE&I is admirable, but the members of the leadership team and scientists elevated/promoted in the organization mostly represent those from majority groups. The organization is fairly flat but prevents people from getting essential managerial experience so they can be ready to supervise teams in the future. To accomplish the ambitious goals, the organization needs to realize that it needs more headcount as it transitions into a mid-sized biotech company.
