Pros
They give you A LOT of experience doing almost everything you could imagen in retail. they also really do genuinly value diversity and will do anything to make sure everyone is treated equal/wont stand for anything unfair like racism, sexism, or anything else. and they are very gender inculsive (idk how to word that to include nonbianary)
Cons
1) if its a smaller, higher class store, like Northbrook in Illinois, they will only hire the managers full time. 2) they claim to give you 10-25 hours off work in your interview, and if you explain to them that's too little for you they lie and say that they will most likely give you a ton of overtime, and you'll probably be making closer to 30 hours. THEY DON'T 3)they usually only give you 4 hour shifts and claim that if you make more sales (a requirement that has so many external factors it essentially fluctuates every day, and causes a lot of pressure) they'll give you more hours. they hardly give you the chance to be on the floor, interacting with the customers in order to actually do so. because they dont teach you what you need to know until months after starting the job (such as how to measure for a fitting, or the different "science behind the bras". 4) if you do stock, they want the job done by the time the store is open. makes sense, but they scheduled you from lets say 6-10 so they pressure you to finish the job BEFORE the store opens, and have another associate open the store, so that you must actually clock out BEFORE your scheduled shift is over. 5) they give you 4 hour shifts as much as they can, so that you don't take a break 6) they will have you start out on the sales floor (after three days only of shadowing) as the only other associate available aside from the manager. the work honestly doesn't match the pay which for me was $14 an hour. the reason? i ended up getting my check (biweekly) that amounted to $150 roughly, per a week-which was what i was getting working part time at T.J maxx for 10 an hour, (that job was much easier, a better work environment and the managers were much more understanding). at VS i had to help the customers, focus on sales (they make you carry a walkie with you adn repeat every interaction/tell them everything you do, which is hard to do when ure learnign how to do what youre doing, and they are all the time saying okay girls we have 30 minutes to make 400 dollars in bras, and 150 in beauty ect.. so lot of pressure. meanwhile i have to attend to the people in the dressing room, on the floor, put away the merch, make the merch look nice, while there are maybe 30 people in the store, and the only other person helping is the manager. on top of all of this, i have to push the sales, go onto the ipads to learn the new offers for the day (which constantly change), help the customers buy things online, sell the credit card, and be a cashier. so its exhausting to say the least. but they don't make enough sales to hire more people and they are stupid about scheduling 7)they require you to have 2 hours available after your shift in case they need over time, but you dont get paid for these unless they need you (which is rare because even if they need you they rather not spend the stores money on you, stupid because most companies base the money they give the store weekly, off of last year's spending). so essentially i cleared my schedule to work as much as possible for them, and screwed myself over when i should have been allocating that time to Tjmaxx, but me being inexperienced was focused on the starting pay rather than the hours i was getting (which is way more important). long story short, their company is a waste of time in terms of a job, even if it seems fun and sexy and cool to work from them. I've also heard several bad things about the lack of compensation for time an work. p.s they are REALLY good at marketing so never get fooled by them. cause their marketing is astonishing, but really they're really terrible.
