Pros

The pay is reasonable; and there’s some flexibility in creating your schedule.

Cons

The company has a long way to go before adequately claiming it provides value-based care; closed-mindedness about healthcare strongly remains. They claim to be different in delivering healthcare, but that was not my experience. It is a narrow, disease-based approach to care.

Pros

Modern tech stack, remote-friendly, diversity awareness, upper management seems very passionate about our mission to improve patient health outcomes.

Cons

The technology organization has a high rate of turnover. The employee makeup is generally a mix of miscellaneous middle-managers, many overseas contractors, and some full-time engineers in the US. The biggest problems this company has are going too fast and trying to take on too much work at one time, not recognizing contributions appropriately, and not planning upcoming work with enough clarity. Annual reviews are conducted haphazardly, and promotions are not given based on merit. As a result, many talented engineers have been interviewing elsewhere and leaving. The day-to-day culture feels disconnected and these issues never get talked about.

We're sorry to hear you had a rough experience with Village. While the technology team is working on cutting-edge products, the rate of growth sometimes causes the kind of creative chaos that leaves some feeling left behind for a time, and not everyone is interested in riding through the rougher patches and growing pains. Both the technology leadership team and the HR organization at Village are constantly striving for improved employee experience and operational excellence across the board. If you'd be willing to share more about your experience so that we can help to make these much-needed improvements faster and better, we'd love to hear from you at talent@villagemd.com.

Pros

The work this company does is incredibly admirable. Their mission is great. Lots of talent in various departments. Benefits are great.

Cons

Management is atrocious and lead to me downfall. Master delegators, took no time to understand day to day but demanded projects and reports that ended up not being necessary and frankly a waste of time. Condescending and deflating dialogue, played favorites, navigating office politics became more of the job that my actual work. The room to grow is only capped my managements unwillingness and inability to train. Direction and training was self reliant, I could hardly depend on management for any advice. Overworking was a point of pride instead of worrying about burnout. Culture became nonexistent event though we were in the office. Compensation is not as competitive as they would have you believe.
