Good if you really need experience.

Pros

Great company to learn how to run a hotel from the ground up. If you have minimal experience/are looking for your first experience as a manager this company is great.

Cons

Be prepared to never have a life. This is normal for hospitality, but Vista Host takes it to another level. Staffing issues and tough labor standards created a very tough work environment. Labor standards only allow you to hire enough people for a perfectly staffed desk. Once you lose someone, which happens often, it really hurts because you couldn't afford to have any staffing on deck to help. Property was undervalued for it's pace and need for additional staffing help.

The owner is great, and there is an undercurrent of progressive movement

Cons

Lower management can be pretty terrible. From inexperienced managers straight out of college to just plain awful ones- it's tough to find true professions in management.

Pros

I really like working for Vista Host. The pay is not great, the hours are less than ideal, but the camaraderie and the potential for promotion are great. To me, that means a lot.

Cons

Like much of the hospitality industry, you will be expected to work hard for very little money.
