Pros

Prior to the new upper management, this was the best place to work. The customers made it awesome, but my manager was really awesome as well. There was so much good about the way they ran the company from a people first perspective in many ways. The benefits were really great at that time as well. The incentive to move up the ladder into at least Senior Store Manager, or Senior Training management was definitely there back then. The company had a very welcoming feel for both employees and customers, until the new upper management was brought in and the downfall began.

Cons

The new upper management is the whole downside of working for the company now. We are now required to use scripts to sell people programs that they may or may not need. We are now constantly demanded to sell more and more items to each person, again, whether or not they actually need or want the products. We are required to greet the customer within 15 seconds with a greeting that most people find intrusive. We are then to ask their name, and many people are also somewhat offended by this requirement. We are supposed to use scripts to sell not one "program" of three products, but two programs and then add on another product, for a total of 7 products per customer. If we are not productive enough, and we do not have an acceptable average sale, we are verbally warned, and if it continues, we are written up for failing to follow the "Vitamin World Commitment". Some managers have been fired due to not making their budgets, and I have heard of many that have been put on a 30 day "Action Plan" to bring their store's sales up. If they fail in this plan, they are terminated. There is much more that I could say, but I do not want to be a ranting person.

Pros

Get to know all about alternative health topics. Overall got a feel about how plants, herbs and vitamins interact with the body. Actually helped me out in a college course

Cons

Lot of downtime and not much to do when there are two people working and everything has been completed. I also had no car at the time, but manager still had me close and walk the bank deposit two blocks down the street at night time.
