Pros

Vizient makes a significant and positive impact on health care. Decent career opportunities within the company. Good benefits.

Cons

Recent changes such as being forced to go back into the office in the interest of "collaboration". Recent seemingly random layoffs, poorly communicated. Several managers were not told that their direct reports were cut. Senior leadership appears to have a flippant attitude towards staff that voice concerns or dislike of changes. Vizient claims to be concerned with the environment, but forcing people to commute to the office adds 1.2 million KG of CO2 weekly to the atmosphere.

Pros

4 weeks where you can work from anywhere- 2 of which you will need to use for thanksgiving and Christmas weeks because if you don’t, you will be forced to come in the office those weeks for 3 days as well! Snacks are free but you pay for your own lunch.

Cons

As someone who was hired on with the assumption of 2 days in office per month, they threw a sudden change and no leeway for their employees, expecting us to come in 3 times per week. I took this job because I saw it as fair to come in twice since I live 1.5 hours away and have children that I pick up from school. As a mother, it’s unsustainable considering the salary is peanuts- $64k when you are years into your career and THEN be forced to drive the ridiculous commute— then be told to just figure it out with my children. The cost trade off for gas, paying someone to drop my kids to school/babysit, tolls, just ate my entire salary and I was forced to quit in spite of what I offered the team. With many companies returning to office, either make a reevaluation of the salaries you offer or cater to your employees and their lives. My job required no collaboration and I found myself coming to office to work from my cubicle anyway. The least they could have done was evaluate how far employees are, the nature of their job, etc. before forcing everyone to come in. Either pay your employees enough to offset the cost of coming into the office and offer free lunch or allow your workers to work remotely. When announcing the sudden change, they provided a platform to express concern anonymously and then began censoring it because they didn’t like the backlash. You don’t care for employee voices. It is unfair that just because of stroke of luck, anyone who happened to be hired with their workday listed as “remote” can just stay remote. Good luck missing out on talent and only retaining those who are desperate for a job.

Pros

Nice coworkers! Snacks! Hybrid work!* Work that feels super important! Community charity days! One time they brought in zoo animals! * hybrid role stability pending constant change

Cons

I, along with 299 other employees, have been laid off after years of service. After being told how important my role was in the company. After being told I could stay at Vizient for years, heck, some employees have remained for decades. That all changed. It's like the veil of acceptance, community, and employees first was lifted in such a short time to reveal that even though they say that profits are record highs and they'll do anything to prevent layoffs, they then turn around, hire a bunch of consultants, and trim the fat. half the work force affected with hundreds looking for new employment, because Vizient decided for what feels like the 5th time now to change direction and restructure. It's more important to Vizient to stay competitive than it is to care about the people who make that happen. My entire department is gone, even my director was blind sided. Looking at the new organizational chart, it seems like they're eliminating once critical components of what they do. And my God, the technical teams...I guess they just don't want engineers and architects anymore. But the worst part of it was the pathetic excuse of their town halls. Used to be transparent, where you could comment, share emojis...but when people started using laughing emojis to express disdain for the top brass's choices, those were silenced. Then comments were moved to a separate platform where people continued complaining. Then the brass wouldn't answer direct questions, but rather pre prepared soft balls. I've given up on the dream that was this amazing job. I hope they make so much money, I really do.
