Pros

Decent PTO offering, colleagues, and work/life balance.

Cons

There was a time not too long ago when it was a verbalized goal of senior leadership to make Vizient a 'great place to work.' This isn't even mentioned anymore really, and is no longer a priority. The attitude has shifted to an almost outward hostility towards employees. Concerns that are raised about decreased benefits, gutting the internal peer points awarding system, policies that say if you are a virtual employee you can't be promoted without moving to an office location, numerous bungled restructurings, layoffs, etc. are all met with 'if you don't like the policy, you can work somewhere else.' Small considerations such as telling people to stay home during inclement weather, or leave a little early on the Fri before a long holiday weekend that used to be commonplace are now entirely absent.

Pros

I've been working at Vizient for just over 2 years now, and I can confidently say the people culture has been phenomenal. The leaders on your team will encourage you to grow, carve your own path, and be bold. The healthcare industry is becoming increasingly important, and Vizient is in a great position to thrive. You are surrounded by subject matter experts, and they are all super willing to share their knowledge and wisdom with you. If you are passionate about healthcare, this is the place to be! I am also a fan of Vizient's modernization efforts, specifically in their marketing and brand design. After reading their recent trends report, I am even a bigger fan of their design elements now. This reflects the effort that the company puts into its branding. Vizient is always trying to do things better and finding ways to best serve its healthcare clients. Cheers to that~

Cons

I would say the only downside to my experience so far is the lack of talent development, specifically targeting the gap between senior and junior staff. I would say Vizient leans on a lot of experienced industry experts, which can present a challenge to entry-level staff who want clarity in their career progression path. Therefore, you have to be entrepreneurial in that sense. One contributing factor could be the fact that Vizient is in the transitioning phase of solidifying its identity as a GPO/Healthcare Consulting dual threat firm. The team structure for the consulting business is different from that of the GPO business; therefore, they are still in the process of figuring out the best way to support talent on both sides of the organization.
