We appreciate your opinions on WGI being a fun place to work and on employee terminations. Enjoying the work environment is critical to our culture and success and yes, there is significant effort focused on client satisfaction and work product delivery, all while maintaining a fun and safe environment. Regarding the comment on WGI firing people all the time, I’d like you to be informed on the facts. First, WGI terminated just over 5% of our workforce in 2021 for a multitude of reasons, some related to safety, performance, and violation of polices, but all for good reason. Second, the average involuntary terminations across all U.S. businesses in 2021 was approximately 30%, so in comparison WGI performed exceptionally well. Third, within our peer group involuntary turnover averages about 4%, which is statically similar to WGI’s rate. While we would always like to see WGI do better, involuntary turnover is largely outside of our control. However, we are constantly working with professional consultants to coach and teach our hiring managers on areas of focus that enhance decision making at the time of hire, with the goal being better hiring decisions to reduce turnover.

The passion for people is REAL. They believe in transparency in leadership, business planning, diversity, innovation, building a new breed of engineers. I am grateful to have found more than a job; but finding a family!

Cons

With growth, comes challenges…new systems and people can cause impatience and frustration at times.

Thank you! We’re thrilled that you have worked with the WGI team for several years now and appreciate your feedback. While we like to think that communication work bi-directionally, your leaders should certainly be communicating regularly and with transparency. Have you communicated your desire for more details? This can vary considerably by individual both on content and on cadence, so we need to know your preferences. If that’s already occurred and we’re still not addressing your need, please let me or HR know so we can address this appropriately.
