Pros

* The people are awesome!! * There are tons of opportunities for learning and growth! * The tech boundaries are kept low so there are plenty of opportunities to hop into a different stack and poke around. * The work itself is truly interesting. We get to work on products which are on the cutting edge of health sciences! * Developers are well supported by their managers and trusted to make technical decisions without being micromanaged.

Cons

I haven't encountered anything significant, just the typical things you'd expect from a fast moving, high tech company.

Pros

WHOOP attracts some of the hardest-working, like-minded individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Many of the employees come from a sports or fitness background, were former WHOOP users, or came to WHOOP because they had seen the product advertised in something they are interested in (PGA Tour, CrossFit, WTA tennis, etc). What this creates is a shared sense of purpose, passion for the product (which is a great product) and a culture of constantly going above and beyond your job responsibilities. For all of the company's flaws, they are spoiled in the fact that they can attract great people to work for them because of the product/culture they portray.

Cons

I would seriously urge anyone considering a position at WHOOP to look at all of the reviews posted on this website. WHOOP started as an exciting opportunity - a rapidly growing company, with a cool product that actually helps people (becoming healthier, getting more sleep, helping you hit fitness goals, and even alerting you of COVID symptoms) and had just raised another huge round of funding ($100mm) as sales skyrocketed during the pandemic. Many of my co-workers joined WHOOP knowing that pay was well below industry average because of the opportunities it presented. Within membership services, people were quick to take on additional work and projects with the hope that it would get them recognition. Over the next year, numerous blunders were made by upper management, including a disastrous launch of the 4.0 product, leasing a brand new 6 floor building across from Fenway Park (which sits empty 1.5 years later), and running SuperBowl ads without any product to fill new orders. Without any direction, management scrambled to perform damage control on the 4.0 launch with much of the work falling on membership services. While we were "praised" during the company all-hands meetings, no additional compensation was given, there was little to no recognition from management, and it became clear that the department was not valued. Concerns were voiced to immediate managers, who were then stonewalled by HR for months on end. It's a tough pill to swallow hearing that we can't be compensated fairly for our work because leadership decided to lease a $5million building for aesthetics. There is certainly a "keep in line" culture at WHOOP and any attempts to have an honest conversation regarding value are nearly impossible. At no other company does HR make decisions about pay. Over the past few months, a huge percentage of the company has been let go (including much of C-suite) many of those who "stuck it out" , working long hours outside of their job description to help the company survive. Little to no recognition was given to them by the CEO, which is really a microcosm for how the company is run. Decisions are made in a vacuum, employees are not valued, and their is little to no career growth opportunities. I would recommend staying away from this sinking ship at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for your expressed appreciation of WHOOP being mission-driven. We agree that this shared sense of purpose and passion attracts top talent. Regarding your comments about your concerns about not feeling heard, we make a lot of our decisions (changes in leadership, employee perks, policies, etc.) based on direct employee feedback. Employees, past and present, have many opportunities to provide feedback to managers, executive leaders, and the Talent team, including but not limited to: eNPS and employee engagement surveys, consistent personal/1:1 meetings with managers, exit interviews, and our 24/7 ethics hotline. WHOOP has a new wave of leadership across the organization currently settling into their roles, and we are excited for the opportunity to implement even more feedback loops alongside those stakeholders. We would have loved the opportunity to hear from you directly so we could have problem-solved together. We would still like to have that conversation if you're open to it. You’re welcome to reach out to us at hr@whoop.com.
