Pros

Interesting night time work scanning goods that you may not have ever seen before. Friendships and intelligent people to work with. No need to drive to locations because Van travel supplied.

Cons

First hour (traveling to location) and First hour (traveling from location) is UNPAID. Reason: "We provide the gas and driver, so you don't have to worry about your car, etc.") Travel after first hour is paid at minimum wage. Waiting time before and after counting - first 45 mins of wait time - UNPAID. Thereafter, wait time paid at minimum wage. Counting time is often not correctly reported. CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE and QUESTION hours that are incorrect!!! Scheduling is haphazard, often changing daily. Workers advised to check schedule twice daily on company website. Impossible to tell if you will be committing yourself to 6 hours or 15 hours of counting, due to the fact that only half of employees scheduled to work actually show up. computer systems used to tally counts are outdated, slow, and cumbersome. Lack of ladders on jobs, occasionally leading to "borrowing' of store ladders. Break times not structured. managers often pushing employees to scan just a few more items" hoping that they will continue to work without breaks. IF YOU NEED A BREAK AFTER 6 HOURS OF COUNTING, INFORM YOUR MANAGER, AND THEN TAKE YOUR BREAK AS PER THE LAW IN YOUR STATE. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO KEEP YOU FROM WHAT IS FEDERALLY MANDATED. IF YOU ONLY TAKE A 5-15 MINUTE BREAK< IT IS TO BE PAID FOR!

Pros

Flexible hours & ability to work when you need to. The managers & supervisors are nice & professional. Out of all of the stores we visited, only 3 had respectful, professional & very nice managers. One of the managers got on his knees & offered help to us! I LOVED THAT!

Cons

Nearly every store (that we did inventory for) had rude & thoughtless managers. They did not respect the counters at all. In fact, they even looked at us as if we were useless & did not even simply say, "Good morning" to us. They made their employees watch us like we were dogs, including every step that we took. Out of all the stores, Bootbarn in Slidell, La. was the worst. We were subject to a PAT DOWN before we were allowed to exit the building, in case we had stolen any items. This hurt me the most.

Pros

Long hours, back to back shifts, sometimes 3 in a row. Not a lot of pros.

Cons

Unreasonable hours. I once worked 18 hours straight in a jcpenny's in Manhattan. Management is a joke, they disrespect and undermine their workers, mistreat them. Expect us to work triple, sometimes quadruple shifts on no sleep. Underpaid. If you finish a job and you're out of state and can't go home till they drive you man's you're waiting 3 hours they'll not pay you for waiting 3 hours. Miserable environment. Upper management has its head in the clouds; out of touch with reality.
