Pros

Steady and fairly stable employment. If you’re looking to play it safe then VML is for you. Also summer hours are cool.

Cons

VML over hires on a yearly basis then layoffs every spring. If you can stay above the bare minimum work level and not cause too many issues with higher ups then you can avoid the yearly layoffs. No bonuses below the director level and bonuses at the director level are still only in the 4 digit range. Upper management is made up of the CEO’s college buddies and former owners of the regional ad agencies WPP purchased for VML. Headquarters and regional offices don’t communicate very well. Pay is low. Raises are non-existent.

Thanks for sharing your experience at VML. Advertising typically has high turnover, and VML takes great pride in having one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry. We’re also a very high performance environment, and we do expect our teams to contribute at the highest levels, not at the bare minimum. We do our best to retain and reward our talent, but it’s inevitable that some will choose to move on. We agree that we have ample room to improve our communication across all offices. It’s something our senior leadership is aware of and committed to improving. Thanks again for your comments, and yes, summer hours is only one of many perks enjoyed by our employees.

Disaster of an agency...

Pros

They have fruit on Mondays. Only reason they get one star.

Cons

I was placed in a temp role assisting probably the worst person I've ever supported in my career. He didn't show the first day I started, and I was literally given two pages of non-information about how to do things, then told that 'there's nothing they can tell me about my job description, because they don't really know what it would be..." since I've assisted people for over 10 years, I had an inkling of what they needed. They'd recently let the last person go, and from what I could tell, it wasn't a good situation, so that's always a challenge to come into... Well, I can see why this person had 5 other assistants in less than a year. He was the most obnoxious person I've supported - he made Miranda in the Devil Wears Prada look like Mother Theresa. I'm not young, so his attitude never got to me. But it was very clear after I spoke to HR that they were there to protect him, so when I got the call from my agency after I left that my assignment ended, I was relieved.

Pros

Cash? Nothing else I can think of.

Cons

Too many to mention. Top-most, astoundingly incompetent senior management. Clearly untrained, new to roles, unable to comprehend employment law or people generally. Wildly under-qualified for the roles appointed therein.
