Very limited career progression
Pros
This was a very routine kind of job, 9-5, monday-friday, overtime was occasionally offered but never expected. The onboarding process was good and you spend almost a week learning about the company, your role and your team. The benefits and pensions were also good (as expected) and there was a great staff canteen offering subsidised lunches. I very much liked the "meet the managers" seminar as a chance to hear from Management on their strategies and aims for the future.
Cons
I didn't see any great examples of employees rising through the ranks and into different fields. The only example of promotion I saw was of our team leader who worked there for 10 years, starting as a pensions administrator, moving up to a team leader position. I know the company was looking into it's new joiner turnover, particularly of graduates but I didn't stick around long enough to find out how that was going. This role is not (or certainly was not whilst I was there) suitable for anyone ambitious.
