Sinking only takes a couple of years
Pros
The company does make some pretty cool products and has a good global organization where you get to work with colleagues around the world and build synergies. The department (at the time) was a cohesive group that worked well together. Strong with the previous NA CEO who was well rounded in economics, but he retired.
Cons
The new engineering group consistently put a thumb on other functions to get their products launched with little understanding (or desire to understand) the constraints of each function. So many times timelines were created that were unrealistic from the start, especially when the plant turned into an assembly only where you had get new parts from suppliers (who were already busy due to the economy). You essentially set yourself up to fail from the start of the project, with the only remedy being "push the supplier as much as possible", even though we can't project plan.
