Pros

Joe Rogers (CEO) really does have a good heart. Once heard him tell the Mayor of Atlanta that the reason he refused to close was because his employees couldn't afford to miss work.... and that the Mayor should get the busses running after a storm. There are some awesome people that work for this company- he is one of them. Those that know him would agree. There are also those on the other side of the coin...

Cons

The lifestyle of a Unit Manager is not sustainable on a long term basis... 24/7/365. You are promised opportunities to advance, exceed written and oral goal, and then someone else is given the role. Promotions are political, no ifs, ands or buts. Amazingly, I was offered three seperate promotions after I gave my notice, including one on my last day. Waffle House is your life if you expect to succeed here. If you are ok with that, then you can make it. But just know going in that most folks don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.

Pros

Depending on which shift you get put on, you'll get damn good experience on how to handle a high stress and fast paced work environment. What you learn here in terms of time management and hospitality will prepare you for pretty much any other serving job and then some.

Cons

The policies are ancient and there's been a recent problem with purposfully understaffing company-wide. Morning shift feels like just one customer with too many alterations can absolutely derail the entire operation because of the archeic and sometimes inefficient calling system. You are not signing up for just one job. You are a server, busser, dishwasher and janitor all at the same time while still serving customers (you get compensated very little in pay for this, despite what they will try to tell you when you apply). Your manager and coworkers will make or break this job for you. Management is corperate as expected, they aren't really allowed to be rude to you directly but will annoyingly insist that their servers need to "work harder" no matter how out of hand the problems are. You will get weirdos both as customers and as coworkers. Brace yourself for some weird stuff if you're a young woman because this place has no standards for who they take in and hire especially on night shift. Bottom line, this isn't a place to work at for anything more than experience to move on up to somewhere you'll get better compensation.
