Pros

Working with kids, feeling as if my job made a difference.

Cons

Unpaid in summertime, no respect from kids, no support in management, you're completely on your own with lesson plans and don't expect a less than 60 hour work week or lunch hour.

Pros

As an educator, you love working with students. Depending on the school you are at, the student body can be amazing.

Cons

There is little support for teachers or accountability for those support positions at the central office level. Teachers are leaving education at a rapid rate. I make it a point to advise students about the concerns of starting a career in education in NC.

- Great hours and nice to have summers off - Some students are really great - Some teachers are awesome

Cons

-The pay is crap!!! Not enough to survive off, I had to get a 2nd and 3rd job to support myself. They don't hire substitutes and expect teachers to cover for free. They don't pay you during the summer months They expect you to use personal leave on snow days WHEN THEY CLOSE THE SCHOOL They don't discipline children so they are disrespectful and do what they want.
