A lot of freedom is given to learn the in's and out's of the environment. No micro-managing. Also a lot of freedom in testing but hard to move systems into production. Good entry level engineering to learn in.

Cons

For an engineering position the environment is static, relying on state budgets makes things take forever. Spend a lot of time "maintaining" over engineering because of the lack of budget and complicated processes. A lot of time spent looking for things to do or improve.

Pros

Best compensation for teachers as far as I can see in North Carolina. Co workers are nice and supportive. Students are great.

Cons

You don't get paid for lesson planning, but I feel as though the high rate of pay makes up for that.
