Pros

A great place to start your career in commercial real estate and understand the business. Generally a well respected brand in the industry. Lots of deal flow and you can take on a lot of responsibility. At W&D, I really felt like I was part of a team.

Cons

Compensation, company is very lean especially in the multifamily underwriting group.

Pros

Company is growing quite quickly in terms of volume and revenue. Benefits are solid, and include things like fitness bonuses, 401k match, etc. Pre-COVID, great employee outings. Recently made huge strides in terms of production volume.

Cons

Management is fairly out of touch with the day-to-day operations. While the company has grown quickly, that has solely been due to the focus on producers brining in business - there has been no corresponding focus on hiring support staff to handle those producers' deals. Teams are overwhelmed across the company (which is only intensified due to COVID) and all management seems to care about is the quarterly reporting. Management is made up of good people with good intentions, but the growth strategy for the company does not seem to be sustainable.
