Pros

Wayfair has good benefits and fun fringe benefits such as parties and the beer fridge.

Cons

Wayfair has increasingly moved towards outside hiring instead of internal promotions. I have personally applied for several positions where I was either not given any feedback or where I was not even given an interview. Then later found that the position had been filled with an external hire. Worse, during a temporary management position, I found out that I did not get the full time management position when the new hire was announced during the daily manager meeting. Upper management has stated to my department "You do not have the skillset to warrant a higher rate of pay" in spite of us being require to know the procedures and skills of all the other departments with which we work. The rapid growth of the company has led to a dilution of the culture. It's no longer the fun place I used to love. Standards are different between locations. There are clear and documented differences between the standards each location is held to.

Pros

- The office is cool - The company has a lot of proprietary technology so you can really mold the tools into what you need

Cons

- Middle management isn't great. They are all really young and care more about perception than reality. - They pay is below market value, but they try to make it seem better with stock options - You only get 6 holidays a year - It depends on the team, but the hours are long, sometimes 10-12 hour days - Most of the teams in my department are short staffed - The culture is extremely competitive, you really have to not be afraid to step on peoples toes

It's the wild west of process and bad management.

Pros

Good salary. Learned a lot. Extremely fun colleagues.

Cons

Incompetent managers. After 3 years of working here there is one constant. Leadership is extremely disorganized and in need of complete replacement. I've never worked for an organization that tried to re invent the wheel...every two weeks.
