Shady Business Practices

Pros

Some of the people were great. Health insurance is very good.

Cons

Did NOT receive even the minimum amount of pay or commissions promised when hired. There seems to be some kind of "filtering" of incoming calls making it almost impossible to hit the sales levels needed to increase "band" and earn more money. Only the top few percentages of sales reps receive the top pay band and higher commissions, and those same top few percentages of sales reps continually receive the confirmed sales calls and RARELY receive the non-sales calls. OVER HALF of the training class of 20+ sales reps quit in the first 3-4 months. They state they don't want you to be a robot and stick to a script BUT they actually want you to be a robot and not give a damn about the customer. Bait and switch with pricing is BAD!

Stable but Stingy

Pros

Stable and steady job for people based in the Boston area. The culture is inclusive, if not a bit cultish at times. The people are great, I've very rarely had a bad experience with any of the teams at Wayfair, even after 4 years.

Cons

Very low in the industry pay ranges, very little room to grow if you're not looking for management. Tends to be quite the echo-chamber and the bureaucracy makes change very slow and painful. The culture is pretty damn cultish; from day one they start trying to feed you the cool-aide. The performance reviews are likely the most despised feature of the company. The entire system is built to induce year-round stress to ensure employees are getting better, lest they get a bad review. A few bad reviews can lead to a downwards spiral, depleting morale and leading to a termination.
