Pros

Fun pod-outings (team outings), great quarterly and holiday parties, standing desks, AWESOME game room, AMAZING beer selection and kegs on two floors. decent vacation package, bananas on Thursdays, apples and string cheese on Tuesdays, great location in downtown Boston.

Cons

I started at Wayfair in 2013, back when we were at the Huntington office. It used to be a warm, friendly, and fun place. Culture was important and the overall health and happiness of the company was evident. When we went public it started to change and in my opinion the culture went downhill overnight. Managers started to micromanage to the EXTREME! Autonomy went out the window, your creative input and ideas that once were valued so highly and actually put into play were ignored. Wayfair's core value WAS transparency, its even on the walls of meeting rooms. Last year they fired 45 people in one conference room. HR brought in 45 boxes of kleenexes! Walking into the room the room the employees looked like deer in front of headlights. The other half of the department was brought into a room and given pizzas and spoke about the future of the department. One person spoke up and asked if employees could expect future layoffs. Upper management struggled to answer the question. Upper replacement managers were brought in after this and decided people could no longer use their phones at theirs desks, weren't allowed to go on Facebook, or any other social media sites. We were given new quotas, but weren't allowed to see the value of our accounts and how management decided upon these figures.

Pros

The people are the only thing that will keep you here (all suffering together, perhaps?). Company is mostly recognizable at this point. Good line on the resume. Work/life balance can be good, depending on your team.

Cons

As nearly every review states: the pay is offensive. Far below the Boston average, leaving employees feeling unappreciated and undervalued. It is impossible to have a good working relationship across teams as people are constantly leaving for better jobs or new positions. There is no strong upper management due to excessive turnover rate. If you survive a year, you will see everyone you started with moving on to new companies that actually value the work they do. If you survive two years, you will see the next batch of employees move on and start to wonder why you have stayed. Perks are mediocre - healthcare isn't fully covered, you save a whopping $20 per year (if that) on your T pass by paying with pre-tax dollars, equity won't amount to much (certainly doesn't make up for the low pay), 6 holidays off
