Pros

Free snacks and beverages. Easy work pace. One free beer pint each week. Coolers to store your lunch. Close to downtown.

Cons

Most of the senior management team (2 of 3 C level executives and 3 of 4 VPs) have no experience in the education industry and they are unable to guide the company, product and customer relations. The management team spends too much time “offsite” boozing it up and wasting money. The product (we have only one product) is stale and the other education companies have surpassed us. The president believes that we are a technology company, yet our technology is almost 20 years old. It takes years to deliver new product features and they are chasing the competition. Other than 401K matching, the family benefits packages are the worst I’ve seen. Employee salaries are the lowest in the triangle. The town hall meetings are an attempt to prop up morale, but they are ineffectual. Open and loud office space.

Pros

-Nice location on Centennial Campus. -401K matching is great. -Free beer once a week. -Free food and pop in the kitchen. -The company culture is low pressure and a very relaxed working environment. -Employees are not expected to work more than 40 hours a week and often get away with less.

Cons

-Teams move at the pace of the slowest members. -Salaries are low compared to similar positions in the area. -Revenue growth has slowed for the 4th straight year. -The sales team doesn't have the tools to fight the competition and can't be expected to hit targets. -Lack of original ideas and products. Every new product feature is a "me too" feature and playing catch up. -High employee turnover and unhappiness. The employee surveys are a joke. -Most of the management team, including the president, have no prior experience with educators.

Pros

Nice office space with plenty of conference rooms Great break room with free drinks and snacks Work is left at the office and no one works after hours (which is also a con)

Cons

No new product innovations Low compensation Poor benefits (compared to other companies) Lack of a sense of urgency to get things done HR is too focused on "happy" versus "productivity"
