Pros

It's a modern tech environment where the dress code is very relaxed. There are games to play and dogs are allowed.

Cons

Communication is awful even though they claim it's their number one focus. They have a lot of processes but you only find out about them when you're called out for not following them. Even then, it's glossed over as a "should have known".

Pros

Laid back environment Free lunches Flexible Schedule

Cons

MASSIVE amounts of immaturity Incredibly cliquey "Rotational" training is unfair and not properly explained from day 1. Management is young, inexperience, and unprofessional. 60 day probationary period includes having to discover things that they didn't train you on - and if you don't discover these ins-and-outs of the site on your own, they put you down personally and make you feel inadequate not only as an employee but also as a person. It doesn't matter how hard you work - if they don't like you as a person, they will make sure you don't stick around. I worked 9+ hour days the last 30 days at the company and I was told I was not "an excellent employee" and didn't meet their "excellent employees only" requirement. Discussion with upper management about your concerns puts a target on your back - as soon as you complain or voice your concerns you should just turn in your resignation. My first manager did not tell me I was not performing up to standards, by the time my 2nd manager spoke to me, I was 30 days in and it was too late to catch up. Might be good for a young person right out of college, but if you have any professional experience, STAY AWAY. They do not function as a professional company, and I felt like I was back in college with the mentality of the majority of the employees. It felt like pledging a sorority or fraternity.

Because of the bustling nature of e-commerce, WebstaurantStore employees get to experience a lot of different, real, situations within their training period. Many employees in a rotational position find that they enjoy the variety of getting to try out multiple departments and see where their skill sets fit the best. Regular meetings between employees and their supervisors during this training process are designed both for employees to receive feedback, and also to express any needs they may have in regard to learning new roles in the most effective way possible.

Pros

My supervisor was nice and overall pretty talented but the higher level management at the company was extremely arrogant and thought they were better than everyone else who worked at the company.

Cons

I had high hopes joining the WEBstaurant Store but after joining the company I quickly realized I had been misled regarding my position. Overall the position was incredibly boring and I would encourage anyone who likes any form of creativity to look elsewhere. I was basically stuck in a cube, given a very aggressive quota for the amount of copy that needed to be written and was forced to follow strict guidelines writing about restaurant equipment until my fingers hurt from typing all day and my eyes burned from looking at nearly identical products all day.

Because we are online and accessible by customers 24/7, WebstaurantStore.com is a bustling place to work – one that we aim to keep fun and enjoyable! While we want everyone to have a great experience at our company, we realize that not everyone is compatible with the fast pace of an e-commerce environment, or the technical / analytic nature of some of our positions. Full job descriptions, available on our website, are designed to give applicants a feel of what a day in each position is like.
