This was my first and only experience with Public Health as I am a acute care nurse by trade. I was initially very excited about this opportunity to serve underserved populations but my experience with management at Weld County was by far the worst I have ever experiences. I have 15 yrs of experience in the medical field and have never experienced such unprofessional, abrasive, and cold managers. I have never had any issues with management until this thankfully brief experience with Weld County. I took a pay cut to work with underserved populations and I definitely did not make enough to be consistently disrespected and treated horribly. For such a wonderful program it is sure ran by tyrants. Currently the department is staffed with new grad nurses who have no experience and it seems that that is the departments wants to create. They have pushed out any nurse with experience quickly. The office its self is rundown with stains on the walls and ceiling. The office was lifeless and quiet with no joy or banter. There also was no real opportunity for advancement and those in charge of nursing departments were not nurses themselves. I feel a moral obligation to warn those thinking of perusing a nursing career with the Health Department of Weld County. It was by far one of the worst experiences I have had as a professional RN.
