Good pay, bad work environment

Pros

The pay is good compared to other retail sectors, and the benefits are nice as well if you're around long enough to take advantage of them.

Cons

Sell Sell Sell No matter how helpful you actually are to your customers, nothing you do will matter unless you sell them something. Not to mention that you'll find yourself constantly threatened with termination unless you play the Wells Sales Game.

Pros

The benefit and the salary is good. Your work environment really depends on where you are at. At some places the co-workers are nice. At others your co-workers can throw you under the bus.

Cons

Wells Fargo is nothing but a fee harvesting, product pushing company. They do not care about customer's financial well being.

Pros

great benefits up to $5k in tuition reimbursments sufficient paid time off (PTO) geat financial contributions to community (wachovia prided itself on this) great team member discounts

Cons

sales are the only motivator. clearly wells fargo is a business although they do things at the expense of a customer. they try to convince the public and team members that they want to meet their financial needs but in reality they just want to make profit. they are decieving to customers when opening products. the turnover is the worst I have ever seen. every 2 weeks there are 10-15 new bankers. at least once a week 2-3 people are fired. many have been terminated for gaming, but gaming is subjective to bankers and managers. one question can get 4 different responses from managers, supervisors, sales integrity, and the sales consultant, but you are suppose to know which answer is better and which one is not going to get you fired. rules and regulations for sales change constantly and expectations are at an all time high. managers and supervisors will email you 6-10 a day asking why you are not doing above and beyond your job duty. they threaten that if you dont go above and beyond you could loose your job like all the others did in sacramento. it is unfortunate that employees are put last. managers constantly go out on outings to lavish lunches, have catered lunches, go bowling, to the movies, and many other activities while the bankers who produce the bank profit are eating a burger from the $1 menu for a job well done. since the closure of the sacramento phone bank there has been much buzz around the closure of all call centers in california. wf simply feels that they can not continue to do business in a state that is so expensive in taxes, minimum wage (cost of living is much higher), leases for buildings, kincare(type of job protection when family is sick- only in california), and lawsuits. even though we bring in millions we are too expensive. word is that all california centers will close as the centers on the east coast open with lower costs to wf. managers wont tell anyone what is going on jsut tell us to keep selling so that you can get a paycheck in 2 weeks. on average a banker will bring in 3-4 times more than their salary in profit. on another note...diversity...is a joke...in retail banking the highest position held by an african american is a branch manager. if you look at the demographics of branches in orange county they are very stereotypical...westminster-asians, irvine-araba, santa ana-mexicans, hunington beach-whites...this is a poor representation of the customer
