Pros
Where do I even start? Some areas/departments of this company is great to work in and some areas are “questionable” especially if you are a contractor. Contractors make up a fairly large percentage of the employees at Western and yet they are looked down upon. The opportunity for advancement or even a simple acknowledgement is close to none. I have been a contractor here at Western for 3 years and I can clearly see the inequality here. Contractors are almost never recognized or praised for their hard work. Senior and upper management doesn’t care to associate with anyone other than themselves. Not everyone is bad, there are definitely some great federal employees at Western as well. Most are friendly and easy going. Every contractor’s experience is different depending on where in the company they work and which contract they are on. But just based on my 3 year experience here at Western, there’s a lot of work that is needed to make this a better environment for ALL of its employees bother Federal and Contractor. All in All, The environment is usually relaxed and quite. Most of the employees at friendly and easy to get along with. The pay and work is stable.
Cons
Contractors are looked down upon. There is a clear difference between how federal employees are treated vs contractors. Too many times I've heard in the halls that contractors are "Not REAL Employees".
