Pros

Mission, strong culture, pay, benefits

Cons

Management does not know what leadership truly is, and they do not care. This is demonstrated by the lack of ethics, integrity, honesty and ability to motivate others. Favoritism is an issue, abuse of power is an issue. There is no work life balance as you will be expected to work evenings and weekends to keep up with workload. The current CEO clearly does not know how to lead the organization as demonstrated by decline in morale, motivation and constant turnover.

Pros

Great work-life balance and job security. Decent benefits.

Cons

There's some red tape that comes along with a government job like this.
