Pros

Fellow coworkers are generally great, focused on producing a quality product, and customer service. Company is focused on education and research products, which is rewarding.

Cons

Perpetually understaffed, leading to staff being consistently over capacity in workload. Reorgs and layoffs in different parts of company approximately every year for the last 6-7 years. Increased outsourcing has not sufficiently taken burden from remaining internal staff, and quality has suffered. The company invests in external hires at the expense of existing junior staff advancement and compensation.

Pros

Co-workers really were like family. And the work was fun and challenging.

Cons

I worked there for almost 15 years. When I first started, it was a great place to work. But now? The leadership is ALWAYS changing RAPIDLY. The very top leadership stays for a year, makes a lot of changes based on zero experience in the industry, gets a $1.5m bonus then leaves so they don't have to witness the damage. And the cycle repeats. People with 10+ years in publishing/learning are at the bottom of leadership and they hire people from other totally unrelated industries to run the company and make AWFUL decisions. They should be promoting people from within the company. Why? Because the top leadership has no idea what goes on in the day-to-day business, or what it takes to get things done. So they make catastrophic changes that makes everyone else's jobs more difficult. Then they lay off the people who are struggling because of leadership's decisions. Then they scramble to patch the hole. No one is allowed to talk about who left or who is leaving, so the people that remain struggle to get things done with no clue who to go to in the missing person's absence.

Pros

Nice people fir the most part.

Cons

Greedy company, loading work on us that was not in the original job description. No paid OT for having to work to meet their deadlines.
