Pros

Always work to be done, always an emphasis on learning proposal development skills. Colleagues with experience from all over the world, and some managers are more invested in the professional development of their teams than others. Very, very social office if you would like it to be.

Cons

Hardly anybody gets fired regardless of conduct and lots of office politics. While Winrock has low turnover overall due to its large size and extensive benefits offerings, HR and senior leaders fail to recognize and respond to situations and individuals creating a hostile work environment. 4 junior employees left in the span of 5 months, all after filing harassment/bullying complaints with HR that were left largely unaddressed. Research publications are hardly ever credited to junior staff, but rather to team leaders. In general, employees are very stressed.

Pros

Excellent benefits/ great work life balance Lots of opportunity for junior staff to take on more responsibilities and learn beneficial skills Interesting meaningful work You can really get out of the opportunity what you put in. Great for people who want to advance and put the effort in to learn and grow.

Cons

Winrock has been slow to change! They are getting better, but the culture of change and improvement needs to come from Senior Management. Many junior staff have great ideas however those ideas need senior management backing.
