Not a great place to work anymore

Pros

Coworkers are amazing. Compensation is decent

Cons

Bloated upper middle management tier who brought bad workplace culture to workday and destroyed it. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. You are a number, and you’re disposable. Offshoring is in full swing, and hiring has come to a halt in the US- unless it’s more middle management. VMware, ServiceNow, and HP have taken over Workday. It’s nothing special these days. I say that as a person who has been at workday for nearly a decade.

Pros

Big-name clients and recognizable brand that adds value to your resume. • Hybrid flexibility helps with work-life balance, especially on quieter teams. • Editorial review exists and can be helpful when timelines allow. • Some internal AI tools like AEM Assistant show potential when they work. • Collaborative colleagues in pockets of the org.

Cons

Writers and analysts have limited advancement opportunities, especially early career. Promotions are infrequent and often unclear. • Offshore teams in Chennai are now being trained to triage content, shifting some responsibilities from U.S. teams without clear communication or support. • The 50 percent in-office requirement feels outdated and inconsistent with modern remote-first expectations. Many employees joined from remote-forward cultures and are now being pulled back without flexibility. • Internal mobility is limited. Employees must stay in a role for a full year before exploring other positions, even if it’s not a fit. • ADA support can be difficult to access. Processes vary by manager and team, and there’s little centralized support. • Tech stack is fragmented. Tools like Jira, Confluence, AEM, Workday, and Slack don’t always integrate well and create friction in daily workflows. • Processes and communication around content work are not always streamlined, especially when PMs or engineers shift timelines suddenly or deprioritize documentation.
