Pros

Reasonably good salary and benefits and sometimes interesting work.

Cons

Workload can be overwhelming because there aren't enough writing staff and the job cuts have been savage. The company doesn't seem to realise the importance to their customers of quality documentation and demonstrates little respect for individuals in writing roles. There seems to be an underlying assumption that AI can do most of this work, which is laughable. Workday claims to be all about the employee, which is true up to a point. When you're actually struggling, the company largely takes a box-ticking approach and doesn't actually demonstrate respect or care. For example, they would rather spend huge sums on flashy advertising campaigns than invest in their employees. In addition, recent layoffs have been savage. The best and brightest (and presumably the most expensive) employees have been made redundant, so zero recognition for good work.

Pros

1. Quality-First Mindset QA management consistently champions quality as a shared responsibility, ensuring it’s embedded across development life cycles and not treated as an afterthought. 2. Strategic Feature Planning QA managers are involved early in feature discussions, helping shape realistic test strategies, risk assessments, and timelines. This enables better planning and ownership. 3. Empowerment and Ownership Individual contributors are empowered to lead features, own test strategies, and participate in cross-functional initiatives. This promotes accountability and growth. 4. Cross-Pillar Collaboration Encouraged QA management facilitates coordination across teams (via SoS, syncs, tiger teams), which helps in resolving blockers and aligning on broader quality goals.

Cons

1. Reactive Prioritization at Times Due to urgent customer escalations or shifting priorities, QA teams may be pulled into reactive work, which can disrupt planned efforts and cause burnout. 2. Resource Constraints Across Critical Areas Certain areas often experience bandwidth issues, where one or two key QA engineers support high-complexity features without enough redundancy. 3.Risk of Overload for High Performers Strong QA engineers often become go-to resources, which can lead to uneven workload distribution and potential burnout without sufficient delegation support.
