Sinking ship - avoid at all costs

Pros

The people on my team are nice. That’s about it

Cons

- Leadership is completely lost and uninspiring: CEO doesn’t know anything about tech and AI innovation. Why’s he getting paid over $100 million a year salary? Only knows how to cut costs by taking things from the minions. He is hiring a bunch of sr. VPs to do the “innovating” and they’re all left overs that failed in their previous roles at Google Cloud. All of them are so uninspiring and fake. All this leadership team can do is pay astronomical prices to acquire other companies. In-house innovation is dead at Workday - Dead stock: stock is going nowhere. Even when we announce layoffs and acquisitions, it doesn’t even go up - No longer customer-centric: They still say customers are a core value but it’s actually not true at all. PMs no longer address customer enhancement requests and just do whatever the confused leadership tells them to which is pump out agents that our customers don’t even want - Cutting our benefits one by one: cut our $50 monthly wellness credit, cut travel budget, cut bagels, cut team event budgets, cut mid-year promotions & raises, and now health insurance costs have increased by 3x - Lack of recognition: You can work yourself like crazy and not get any recognition because you’re not working on the sexy buzzwords leadership is currently obsessed about. They also cut mid-year promotion and raise cycle this year. Morale is down the drain and feels like there’s no point in working hard - Silent layoffs: every month there are silent layoffs (to avoid WARN notice) and top performers are impacted by these causing confusion and panic. Everyone’s thinking whether they’re next - Offshoring like crazy: Watch out if you’re based out of the USA because if you’re training someone in India, you’re next on the chopping block. Company doesn’t care about quality and customer satisfaction anymore, they just want to cut operating costs

Pros

It’s a place to pretend you work and wait for retirement.

Cons

Toxic and unseasoned CEO. They sent a message on a random day without any notice blocking employees from even going to the office to pick up their personal belongings. What a shock! That’s how they laid off 7k people early 2025. What kind of CEO does that? There are so many ways to lay off people but what he did was disrespectful and cruel. Nobody with the minimum self respect should be working for a company running by a CEO with that history in his profile. If you see his name as CEO on a company you’re interviewing procede with caution. He discards employees in the most unprofessional ways. It’s not a happy life working in places with people like the Workday CEO.

We understand how painful and unsettling this moment has been. Saying goodbye to talented and valued Workmates is never easy and we’re appreciative of their contributions in helping shape the company’s journey. Workdays committed to supporting those affected during this transition.

What a mess

Pros

Some good benefits still exist but a lot have been silently and not so silently taken away.

Cons

Culture is gone, it's a little more than a sweatshop now. It takes years to actually release anything worthwhile. Roadmap is dictated by management, there is no room to be creative. Work life balance is gone, you're made to come in for "moments that matter". The company says it values diversity and inclusion while not appreciating different styles and ways of thinking.
