Pros

Plenty of corporate help if needed and even when you don't. Local communication is far better than what is received from corporate.

Cons

Corporate micro-manages. Responsible for financial results, but GM's do not have access to financial results. They don't get to see the contract. Very political.

Pros

Fun atmosphere to work in. Very laid back and provides you the opportunity to truly manage your book of business the way you want as long as you are producing.

Cons

It is difficult holding carriers responsible for their actions. This results in a lot of lost business on the Accounts side. Carrier reps truly reap the financial benefit in this organization. They are rarely held accountable for mistakes and are encouraged to book at any cost. Account Managers struggle to maintain business and are not compensated appropriately.

Pros

Good experience. Helpful coworkers in other markets.

Cons

My position was in the Last Mile division. Minimal training. No performance reviews or evaluations. Was hired with bonus opportunities which, in reality, could never be met how facilities are operated/budgeted. If considering employment with XPO Last Mile, do not factor bonuses into your salary, period. I've heard from multiple sources that XPO burns through Ops Managers; it is a revolving door in most markets. Avg hours/week is 55-60 and the phone will ring at all hours. That is not a complaint of mine, but a reality of the position. If you do not have past experience in Last Mile delivery, this position will be a very big eye opener. Be prepared to take on the workload of 2-3 people; quality of life is not a virtue at XPO.
