Pros

decent pay, benefits, hybrid work schedule.

Cons

Lack of diversity not just in management but analyst level. Depends which group you work in but the level of hostility can be toxic towards minority.

Pros

It is a family oriented company with a lot of really great folks that work there. Full time non-bargaining employee starts with 17 days PTO per year (bumps up to 22 days after 4 years), plus 3 Floating Holidays, and 8-9 Observed Holidays. Bargaining (Union) employees have different schedule. 401K - a 50% match for the first 8% of your salary contribution. Cigna high delectable plan with access to tax benefited HSA account at Optum (which allows you to invest money after you've accrued $2000). They have a good Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which values mental health and other services to support employees. Offers eight free sessions with counselor of your choice (who accepts EAP) for each issue/event you call in. Tuition reimbursement program. After you've been in for about a year, you'll qualify for Maternity leave is 8-10 weeks (depending on type of delivery) and then a 4 week Parental leave for all new parents (includes adopted children). So for birth mothers 12-14 weeks in total. Bargaining employees do not have the same policy. Being a regulated utility once you're in, your job is pretty stable. Many employees have been in the company for many years and have just changed jobs as time progresses.

Cons

Management positions tend to work more than 40 hours a week and some salary positions as well. For hourly folks (Admins, Coordinators, Schedulers, etc.) you can only work overtime with approval. As hourly it is challenging to get a cash bonus and raises are typically around 1.5-3% (with current 2022 inflation they gave everyone an additional 2% on top of their annual raise in March). The best way for a raise is to get a new job title. Being a regulated company puts a lot of pressure to keep operation costs low.
