Pros

Stable company Meets earning Fellow coworkers

Cons

Overworked. If someone leaves they don’t want to re-hire. Burning people out right and left. Everyone is replaceable mentality.

Pros

Very in group of employees decide who stays and who goes. If you arent kissing feet on day 1 good luck. Theyve already decided your out. If you dont mind pretending to work all day for 46$ an hr be my guest. I cant sit down all day on my phone I just cant. I would rather be proud of what I do for a living. Just know if its decided youre out you will be told on wed to go home for a paid for leave of absence go take care of yourself you know self care is important and if we dont call you in for work this week then just come in monday and so you show up on monday not allowed on the property they took your badge when they sent you home. So youre locked outside the gate while they have a hook in there loading up all your tools and your not allowed back there to supervise them moving your 200k tool collection. Said they fired me due to unsatisfactory performance Because I was late 1 time I know because I would get five times as much work through my bay as everyone else around me. Theres no way my performance was unsatisfactory. The person that decided this lives in austin texas I live in denver. How can they make that judgement call I dont get the chance to defend myself? Very shady watch your back up in there

Cons

Union seniority based promotion Will not recognize experience of seniority. Or evaluate your productivity and competency for a raise so I can prove my experience. Sucked wotking there. And them union boys couldnt be expected to fix more then 1 unit in an 8 hr shift. The pase of work there is so slow I've bever seen such a lazy culure at a shop before like that

Xcel wants to suppress your career

Pros

Stable environment with OK-ish compensation. Most managers I worked with also hated the company, so at least there's a culture of commiseration.

Cons

Absolutely toxic culture around promotions. For many types of roles, there's basically no such thing as a merit based promotion. You could theoretically have "Associate" in your title forever. You have to wait for someone on your team with a higher title to leave then apply to that position (aka, applying to your own job for a promotion). You'll often find that the "Associate" titled person on the team is a higher performer than a mid level titled person. So what happens? Nothing. The "Associate" leaves for a promotion elsewhere and the team gets weaker. The company has decided rewarding dedicated, talented employees is less important than checking a box that every team has an "Associate" on it.
