Pros

Get to put the name Xcel Energy on your resume.

Cons

- Executives care more about crushing financial goals then the well being of their employees. - No mentorship from your leaders. Just empty promises that are never kept. Constantly talk about future opportunities or things they could do to help and never follow through. - Extremely cliquey. Very hard to get into the inner ring of employees to gain new opportunities or job security. -Company claims to want to embrace new ideas and innovativeness but 99% fall back on old ways or previous ideas instead.

Pros

Stability and salary/wages are hard to beat in my area. Benefits are good.

Cons

I have a complete lack of trust in senior leaderships ability to recognize what the true organizational/process problems are and then implement meaningful, sustainable change. Regardless of what you see in the company press releases and PR, this organization has an old school leadership/management model and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Pros

The pay is great, but it is very stressful and hard on your mental health. They offer support services for counseling to help, but unless you have a diagnosis for a mental disability that doesn’t help with the work stress much

Cons

Mental health and if you are on 10 hour days it’s almost impossible to switch back to 8 hours without giving up a weekend day or working late evenings. Also sucks we are unable to help customers more. We have limited resources and contacts to help with unique situations and are required to follow cookie cutter processes in most situations.
