Below average pay, poor management, average colleagues
Pros
Flexible working is good in teams I've been in, some culture is still around even after layoffs, some really good people to work with.
Cons
There are a lot of overconfident, arrogant engineers that can be difficult to work with, especially if you've come from other companies. It's tough to implement positive change when fresh to the company, which is often the best time to get new perspectives. Senior management is gutting culture, while at the same time insisting that they aren't. Transparency from senior management is some of the worst I've seen, with a lot of double speak, and a real lack of self awareness from the CEO. Nepotism in the US has started creeping in. CEO doesn't understand that people won't give honest feedback if they cannot do it anonymously, and has a real lack of awareness around workplace politics that can impact individual contributors. Perhaps just so far removed from those that do work at the company.
