Pros

Good perks, remote working and some pockets of seriously great talent.

Cons

Not a good place for a person of colour which is ironic given our leadership. There's a lot of anger to go around and it needs to go somewhere. Discrimination has increased post-restructure with misdirected anger towards people that kept their jobs. It's a difficult time to be a survivor at Xero. The team lead role is a mess. Management can't decide what the TL role should do but for now, TLs are convenient punching bags for people upset at the reset. Once the therapists/team leads are no longer needed, I believe the TL role will get disestablished.

Xero talk the talk but fail to back it up.

Pros

There are a lot of genuine people who work there however that is overshadowed by a culture of turning a blind eye to anything that goes against beating the company drum.

Cons

Xero talk a massive game about mental health & wellbeing (#human), having a culture that collaborates freely and encouraging in open conversation (#challenge) however in my experience that was not reality. I experienced bullying consistently during my time there and it still rocks me to think this knowingly happened at a place that was meant to be different.. better than the rest. Working here has forever taken a toll on my mental health. It’s so hypocritical they harp on in their marketing collateral about supporting small businesses + their mental health when they fail to provide that safe space for employees.

Pros

People at Xero lives by the company values and brings their experience, skills and talents to wok collaboratively.

Cons

New leadership dynamited the culture and it doesn’t feel like a great company to work for anymore. As part of a restructure, the design discipline is in a worse position compared with other functions. Product leadership doesn’t seem to value design and research s as they used to. There’s a complete lack of trust in Xero and the product and design organizations.
