Pros
The group I am a part of is great. There is excellent communication and colleagues openly share and discuss ideas. Although Xilinx just had its first "reduction in force" ever, Xilinx is a stable employer with a pretty good corporate culture. Changes that are afoot with our new CEO Moshe Gavrielov may improve the corporate culture as I think more of a lean business focus is needed.
Cons
There is an odd corporate cultural bit that leans toward too much group or team decision-making. It manifests itself when someone has a project or decision to make and instead of plowing in and using judgment, a committee or working group is formed and that...slows.....the......process.......down. (This is the sort of meeting that people glaze over in.) If the RIF did cut out redundancy, then perhaps it has removed some of the co-decision makers and this will clear the problem up. More likely, senior management needs to observe this occurring within their reporting structure and take a position on it.
