      Xilinx still the best FPGA company

      Pros

      The technology is great, the people are quite good too. The environment is easy to work in, even during high-stress times, due to co-workers working well as a team.

      Cons

      There are some folks who are no longer working, because Xilinx is a company that has not had a layoff in their history. This changed last week, and the layoff was very good for the future.

      Pros

      The work culture was originally a "CREATIVE" value oriented culture. Every employess believed in those values. In the past two years, Xilinx culture was being changes with the addition of former employees of Xilinx competitor. One employee was asked if he was sabatoging the work process. That employee brought it to the Human Resources Rep and she did not take this comment as she should have and sided with the maker of the comment. The employee ws part of the layoff and the manager making the comment did not even get his hand slapped.

      Cons

      The work culture has changed from a "Creative" value to a culture that allows management to take cheap shots at employees and then the employee gets eliminated via the layoff. Human Resources does not listen to the employee but listens to management.

      Pros

      Xilinx is a leading semiconductor company. It is working on Emerging technologies. Xilinx has a large number of customers in a diverse set of industries. So, it gives an idea of what kinds of products customers are building. So, it is a great place for Marketers. On the hardware engineering side, Xilinx is working on cutting-edge process technologies for their latest products. On the software engineering side, there are many CAD/EDA tools being developed at Xilinx and there are also many embedded software solutions being developed. So, Xilinx is a great place for Engineers.

      Cons

      Not many people outside hardware industry know the company. Though 90% of internet traffic is likely to run through some FPGA chips, most people dont know about Xilinx.
